The Currency of Love - Part 1

Love is the foundation and strengthener of other currencies in the kingdom of God.

This currency has the image of God on it because it is the currency that the King Himself exhibits or spends

He spent this currency to reclaim the world back to Himself

John 3:16 says 'For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life

“It was God [personally present] in Christ, reconciling and restoring the world to favor with Himself, not counting up and holding against [men] their trespasses [but cancelling them], and committing to us the message of reconciliation (of the restoration to favor).”

2 Corinthians 5:19 AMPC

This currency shows the true nature of God

“Beloved, let us [unselfishly] love and seek the best for one another, for love is from God; and everyone who loves [others] is born of God and knows God [through personal experience]. The one who does not love has not become acquainted with God [does not and never did know Him], for God is love. [He is the originator of love, and it is an enduring attribute of His nature.]”

1 John 4:7-8 AMP

Proclamation of God's love for you: I have loved you with an everlasting love

“The Lord appeared from of old to me [Israel], saying, Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore with loving-kindness have I drawn you and continued My faithfulness to you. [Deut. 7:8.]”

Jeremiah 31:3 AMPC

He first loved us so we ought to love the brethren

“Our love for others is our grateful response to the love God first demonstrated to us.”

1 John 4:19 TPT

Basic truths about love

1. Love is not an endowment but a choice: You have to choose to love God Josh 24:15.

God chose to love us even when we were unlovable

“This is love: He loved us long before we loved him. It was his love, not ours. He proved it by sending his Son to be the pleasing sacrificial offering to take away our sins.”

1 John 4:10 TPT

2. You need empowerment so that the love of God in you can stand the test of time 2 Tim 1:7

Your relationship with the truth is what empowers you to love. It’s very difficult to love if you do not have the truth (the word of God) in you

“Now, because of your obedience to the truth, you have purified your very souls, and this empowers you to be full of love for your fellow believers. So express this sincere love toward one another passionately and with a pure heart.”

1 Peter 1:22 TPT

3. Love is the first fruit of the spirit Galatians 5:22

4. Love is the summary of the law

“Love makes it impossible to harm another, so love fulfills all that the law requires.”

Romans 13:10 TPT

““Teacher, which is the most important commandment in the law of Moses?” Jesus replied, “‘You must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.””

Matthew 22:36-40 NLT

5. Love is a Commandment not an option

“I am giving you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, so you too are to love one another. By this everyone will know that you are My disciples, if you have love and unselfish concern for one another.””

John 13:34-35 AMP

““This is My commandment, that you love and unselfishly seek the best for one another, just as I have loved you.

This [is what] I command you: that you love and unselfishly seek the best for one another.”

John 15:12, 17 AMP

“This is His commandment, that we believe [with personal faith and confident trust] in the name of His Son Jesus Christ, and [that we unselfishly] love and seek the best for one another, just as He commanded us. The one who habitually keeps His commandments [obeying His word and following His precepts, abides and] remains in Him, and He in him. By this we know and have the proof that He [really] abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us [as a gift].”

1 John 3:23-24 AMP

6. Love is not by mouth but by deed. It is demonstrated

“But Christ proved God’s passionate love for us by dying in our place while we were still lost and ungodly!”

Romans 5:8 TPT

“If anyone sees a fellow believer in need and has the means to help him, yet shows no pity and closes his heart against him, how is it even possible that God’s love lives in him? Beloved children, our love can’t be an abstract theory we only talk about, but a way of life demonstrated through our loving deeds. We know that the truth lives within us because we demonstrate love in action, which will reassure our hearts in his presence.”

1 John 3:17-19 TPT
